  • Do I need to have a phone mount to use Soter Driving?
    Yes. To ensure accuracy, you need to have a phone mount that is consistently placed in the vehicle where the app has been calibrated. If you change vehicles or need to move your phone mount, we recommend you recalibrate the app. Also, please ensure that the phone mount firmly holds your phone in place and does not move around while driving.
  • What is a good score for a trip?
    Since nobody is perfect, we consider a score above 80 to be good, and a score above 90 to be great! The goal is to improve each time and work on building safe driving habits.
  • How often do I need to recalibrate the Soter Driving app?
    If you think the app is accurate, you do not need to recalibrate it. Since this app uses state-of-the-art technology to detect minor changes, it does require some degree of consistency. You should recalibrate the app if the phone mount significantly moves, or if you are driving a different vehicle.
  • Can I wear a hat or sunglasses while driving and using the app?
    Yes. The app still functions accurately if the driver is wearing a hat or sunglasses. However, the detection of some distractions may be diminished. If the obstruction is too severe, the app will start logging “Face Covered” distractions.
  • Why am I not hearing the audio cues when a distraction occurs or during calibration?
    Common reasons for not hearing audio from the app include: 1. Not having the volume on your phone turned up high enough 2. The car radio being turned off if your phone is connected via Bluetooth 3. Your car’s volume is not high enough when connected via cord 4. You have turned off the “Toggle Ping” in the “Change Trip Settings” portion of the settings or calibration.
  • How can I join someone else’s group?
    On the app’s home screen, select the three-person icon in the top left corner. Click on the button at the bottom of the screen titled “Join Group”. Enter the email address of the group owner and click “Submit Request”. Once the group owner accepts your request, you will be in the group.
  • How can someone join my group?
    Someone can join your group by selecting the three-person icon in the top left corner of their app’s home screen, clicking on the button at the bottom of the screen titled “Join Group”, entering the Group Owner Email of your group, and clicking “Submit Request”. From here, the group owner must accept their request.
  • What is a Group Owner Email?
    The group owner email is the email address of the person who created the group. The group owner email can be found by selecting the three-person icon in the top left corner of the app’s home screen.
